Another border crossing goes down without incident.
I cannot believe we’ve driven all the way to Peru!!!
This was one of the weirdest border crossings we’ve done. It was HUGE. There were giant official looking modern buildings everywhere, but they were all empty. There was hardly any traffic, yet there were dozens of police and officials just lingering around.
Despite the lack of crowds and abundance of officials, it took way longer than it should have to get across.
We want to stay in Peru for at least 6 months, maybe longer. I tried to negotiate a visa longer than 90 days, but we were shut down. We’ll have to drive the van all the way back to a border and cross for a day to renew our visas and vehicle permit sometime before January 3rd, 2012. BUMMER.
We’ve rolled into a wicked cool little beach town called Mancora. Everything I’ve heard about the waves in Peru is turning out to be true. They are epic. We’ll kick it here for one week before heading south to Chicama. – TREE
