Today, after 36 hours of grueling labor, at 2:45pm, we gave birth to Soleil Mariah Trujillo.
Soleil, pronounced: (so LAY), means ‘Sun’ in French.
We’ll call her Sol for short, which has the same meaning in Spanish.
Stevie was an absolute warrior. She is my hero. My inspiration.
In a country where 80 percent of the births end in cesarean section, Stevie never gave up. Not after 12 hours. Not after 20 hours. Not after 30 hours. She stayed the course and delivered our daughter into the world via a vaginal birth. I’m not worthy. She is my everything!
Welcome to this world Soleil. We are so so so happy you are here.
I wish I could tell you more about the adventure, but Stevie and I are absolutely wiped out. We’re 100% exhausted. Right now we’re spending time with Sol. We’ll stay at the hospital tonight and hopefully head home tomorrow. I promise to write another blog post with lots more pictures later this week.
Thank you for all the amazing emails and Facebook comments you sent us. I read them to Stevie during her labor and they inspired her to push on.

And I will NEVER forget Tree, how you would have torn that hospital apart when they tried to take your baby away from you and put her in a “nursery” all alone. Don’t mess with Tree’s Tribe!
