Going On Vacation – USA or BUST!

After an amazing week on Rapa Nui island (remember here), we headed back to Santiago and posted up at a B&B right in Providencia.

Time to pack the bags… we’re going on VACATION!

We fly to the USA on Monday, and so all week we’ve been preparing ourselves for the next month of travel. We tore the van apart for the first time since Peru. We went to the dentist. Sol went to the doctor. We’ve ordered a ton of stuff online. And so on…

Oh yeah, the haircut. I’m not sure when it happened, but at some point in the relationship Stevie started cutting my hair.  I find this to be an intimate bonding experience and a milestone in our relationship. When she’s not drinking, it usually turns out pretty good.

We’re all really excited to visit the US. I’d like to say this is going to be a relaxing vacation, but it’s shaping up to be a full on blitz, as usual. I suppose we should be used to this by now. We only return to the States once a year now, and when we do it’s always crazy-time.

On this trip I’ll visit 4 states in 4 weeks. As I gaze at my schedule, it looks like I only have 1 night out of the entire month that isn’t booked with a dinner, an event, or a flight. But I’m stoked. Who the hell wants to relax on a vacation. That’s weak sauce.

We can’t wait to see all our friends and family. And we have some wicked cool things planned. I just hope we can all hold up over the 4 weeks… especially Soleil.

Aside from the loopy social schedule, we’ve also got all of our annual family operational stuff to attend to. Stevie and I both need new passports. We have to finish our taxes that never got done last April. Sol needs a social security card. Drivers licenses need to be renewed. Critical shopping needs to be done (the van needs two new house batteries for example). Oh, and there is this little thing called Outdoorplay that needs to be attended to.

So, in a nut shell, it looks like we’ll have to bring our A game to this trip, and just hold on for the ride.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in a few short days.

    Ding Ding!
I promise to hold/playwith/love Soleil the ENTIRE time I’m there (so that you two can go do your “stuff”).
    I am SOOOOOO excited!

  2. And I’ll hold/play with/love her the entire time that you’re in HR so you can focus on your other stuff. Stoked!

And I’ll fill in and hold and play with Sol whenever I can pry her out of her Noni’s arms. See you all soon!

  4. And I’m hoping to see my dear friend Tree, meet his beautiful wife & daughter, see the rest of the fam, even if it’s for a second!

  5. Excellent! Have a great time. Sounds like lots of things needing to be done but it will still be great to see friends and family and we’re having a fantastic summer here in Oregon:)

  8. Safe travels! In my experience the hardest part traveling with a child is all the crap we think we need! The time changes are a bitch too with a baby. Good luck and can’t wait to see you!!!
